Job summary

Hood Container Corporation in Michigan is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to assist the Logistics Manager with daily shipment cycle management, carrier scheduling, and cost optimization. Responsibilities

  • Maintain good relationships with carriers and ensure accurate paperwork and billing.
  • Develop cost effective options and oversee shipping and logistics hourly personnel.
  • Organize and maintain finished goods warehouse with high inventory accuracy.
  • Lead shipping team, improve operator capability through training, reduce damage, and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Assists Logistics Manager with daily management of the product shipment cycle from carrier scheduling through loading and shipment. Tactical responsibilities include:
  • A good reputation and relationship with carriers
  • Accurate paperwork and billing
  • Development of the most cost effective options
  • Front line management of Shipping and Logistics hourly personnel
  • Organization and maintenance of the finished goods warehouse.
  • A high degree of inventory accuracy to include frequent cycle counts
  • Minimal handling damage and follow-up on any issues
  • Efficient loading capability and tracking of load times
  • Leadership of the shipping team
  • Accident free work environment
  • Increasing levels of operator capability through training
  • Most efficient assignment of resources
  • Achieve a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Assist Logistics Manager/Customer Service Representative/Planner
  • Quality Complaints follow-up with improvement plans

Job Requirements

To perform at a proficient level, a candidate would be expected to have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Business Administration or related field preferred
  • 2 – 4 years of logistics/traffic experience preferred
