Chapin Manufacturing Inc in Danville, KY is seeking a Shipping Clerk to manage on-time shipments and coordinate with freight forwarders. The role interfaces heavily with Customer Service to resolve backorders and track orders.

The candidate should be detail-oriented with strong Word/Excel skills and excellent interpersonal communication. This is a full-time on-site position with benefits.

• Associate degree preferred with at least six months’ experience required.

Responsabilidades

• Communicate with customers’ shipping agents and freight forwarders to ensure on-time shipments.
• Coordinate with Customer Service to resolve shipping issues and backorders.
• Track and expedite back orders and prepare accurate paperwork.
• Mark packing slips and bills of lading when quantities differ from standard.
• Route small parts and orders to UPS, RPS, or Parcel Post to minimize costs.
• Sort and consolidate bills of lading for same-location shipments.
• Assist in printing and expediting special orders called down by Customer Service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Frequent contact with customers’ shipping agents, outside freight companies and forwarders to ensure correct on-time shipments.
• This position will interface heavily with the Customer Service Department.
• Track and expedite back orders; control paperwork; coordinate with sales/forecast/production coordinator.
• Follow up and respond to customer inquiries regarding back orders and past dues.
• Mark up and/or correct picking/packing slips and bills of lading where quantities deviate from standard.
• Route and sort small parts, no charge orders to UPS, RPS or Parcel Post, depending on size of orders to minimize shipping costs.
• Note number of parts packages and weights on bills of lading and picking/packing lists where truck orders have. parts.
• Sort truck orders by carrier and put in bin, oldest date first.
• Consolidate bills of lading, where two or more shipments are going to the same company, same location to reduce excessive freight costs.
• Print and expedite ‘special-Hot “orders called down by Customer Service.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree preferred with at least six months’ experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Must be detail oriented.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and internet applications.
• Excellent interpersonal and phone skills required.
