Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Position Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk plays a vital role in the daily operations of our distribution center.

This position is responsible for the administrative and physical coordination of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring all documentation is accurate and inventory integrity is maintained.

We operate with a "One Team" philosophy; while this role focuses on clerical accuracy, the successful candidate will be expected to support warehouse floor operations during high-volume periods to ensure we meet our service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage the scheduling of inbound and outbound carriers. Prepare comprehensive shipping documentation including Bills of Lading (BOL), packing slips, and customs paperwork.
  • Receiving Accuracy: Physically verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing lists. Identify, document, and report any damages or discrepancies immediately.
  • System Management: Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to record all transactions, update inventory levels, and generate performance reports.
  • Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with hazardous material regulations (if applicable) and customer-specific routing guides.
  • Operational Support & Flexibility: In our fast-paced environment, adaptability is key. When operational volume requires additional support on the warehouse floor, this role includes:
    • Assisting with manual unloading of containers and palletizing of goods.
    • Supporting the outbound team with order picking, packing, and labeling.
    • Participating in cycle counts and annual physical inventory audits.
    • Operating material handling equipment (pallet jacks, etc.) safely to move staged materials.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a warehouse, shipping, or receiving environment.
  • Strong proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on operational discipline and accountability.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8–10 hours per shift.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
