Job summary

Metals USA is seeking a Shipping Clerk for our Ambridge, PA facility to perform shipping duties and related paperwork for daily shipments. The role includes preparing finished goods for shipment, coordinating with third party carriers, and ensuring documents are accurate and complete.

Candidates should have strong communication skills, basic math ability, and the capacity to work safely in a busy warehouse. We offer $19.00–$21.00 per hour plus benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Prepares finished goods accurately for shipment according to customer requirements.

• Verifies shipments are accurate and not damaged prior to departure; prepares documents.
• Stores materials and maintains inventory per procedures.
• Loads/unloads delivery trailers and signs for incoming deliveries as required.
• Keeps shipping/receiving documentation orderly and up to date.
• Follows shop data collection procedures and safety rules daily.
• Maintains clean, safe work areas and reports discrepancies or injuries.
• Wears PPE as training dictates and adheres to company policies.

Metals USA is seeking a Shipping Clerk for our Ambridge, PA facility. Metals USA - Plates & Shapes Division is a solid, growth oriented carbon steel distribution center servicing the defense, commercial construction, road construction and fabrication industries.

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for performing shipping duties and processing related paperwork for daily shipment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares finished goods accurately for shipment according to customer requirements.
• Coordinates shipments on approved third party logistic company and common outside carriers.
• Reviews finished goods to ensure that they are tagged and properly prepared for shipping. Prepares shipping documents associated with each truck including bill of lading; prints tags to identify material.
• Verifies that all shipments are accurate and not damaged prior to departure from the facility.
• Stores materials and supplies within the warehouse according to company procedures.
• Manages shipping supplies inventories according to company procedures.
• Manages finished goods inventory per company policies.
• Signs for incoming deliveries as required; loads and unloads delivery trailers/trucks by hand or with material handling equipment as needed.
• Forwards shipping and receiving documentation in a neat and orderly manner.
• Records shipping and receiving details to the appropriate department on a regular and timely basis.
• Fills out production paperwork, follows shop system data collection procedures and follows inspection procedures on a daily basis.
• Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.
• Notifies management of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions, and or personal injuries.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a shipping clerk effectively.
• Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
• Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
• Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

• Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)
• Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend.

Other Physical Requirements:

Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Steel-toed boots
• Hard hats with chin straps are required; chin straps must be worn on elevated surfaces

May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.
