Job summary

Acuity Brands is seeking a warehouse associate to support shipping, packing, and material handling at our Des Plaines facility. You will weigh, label, and prepare pallets, load trailers, and ensure accurate documentation. Teamwork and safety are essential in a lean manufacturing setting.

Strong basic math and reading skills, along with the ability to interpret manifests and packing lists, are required. Prior warehousing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow all Safety, Health and Environmental guidelines, policies, rules and training.
• Basic math/reading comprehension aptitude.
• Read and interpret a manifest, packing list and complex shipping codes.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Prior warehousing experience preferred, including lean manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Process shipments via UPS and FedEx and loading product into trailer.
• Pallets processed through LIDS and scanned into system.
• Weigh, measure, and label products.
• Pack size and physically assemble boxes.
• Package products, label and tape boxes.
• Breakdown inbound pallets and receipts into the system.
• Review quantity discrepancies and update the system.
• Wrap pallets using wrap machine.
• Ensure labels from distribution match pallets.
• Move product to dock as needed.
• Hit hour-by-hour productivity goals and maintain board.
• Maintain a clean, safe 5S work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

• Process shipments via UPS and FedEx and loading product into trailer.
• Process pallets systemically through LIDS, Scanning products into system.
• Weigh, measure, and label products.
• Processing boxes systematically through pack size and physically assemble.
• Package products, labelling and taping boxes.
• Breakdown of inbound pallets and systemic processing of receipts.
• Review quantity discrepancies and update system as needed.
• Wrap pallets utilizing wrap machine.
• Ensure labels left by distribution attendants are assigned to correct pallet.
• Put corner boards on product when appropriate.
• Move product to dock door when appropriate.
• Hit hour by hour productivity goal. Follow and maintain hour by hour board.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment ensuring 5S is followed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education (minimum education required):

• High School Diploma Equivalency/ GED.
