Job summary

Iceberg Enterprises in Sturgis, MI is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Material Handler to handle inbound/outbound shipments and maintain inventory. You will inspect, label, and store materials, operate forklifts, and support production and inventory tasks in a fast-paced facility.

The role requires forklift experience, basic math, and proficiency with MS Office; bilingual Spanish/English and ERP/MRP familiarity are preferred. This is a full-time onsite position with an 8-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 6 months – 1 year forklift experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably plastics.
• Lean manufacturing familiarity is highly desired.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is highly desired.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly desired.
• Basic reading and communication skills in English are required.
• Basic math skills and counting ability are required.
• Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel.
• Ability to work independently with little direction.
• Strong organizational and multitasking ability.

Responsibilities

• Receive and unload incoming shipments.
• Load outgoing shipments.
• Verify received quantities against packing slips.
• Inspect shipments for damage or discrepancies.
• Report shortages, overages, damaged materials, or incorrect items.
• Label and identify received materials as required.
• Move materials to appropriate locations.
• Maintain organized shipping, receiving, staging, and storage areas.
• Communicate receiving issues to appropriate personnel.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
• Follow established inventory-control procedures.
• Weight counting.
• Support material transfers between locations and ensure transactions are completed accurately.
• Maintain accurate paperwork.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with general production and inventory activities as needed.

Job Scope

The Material Handler, Shipping and Receiving role is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, and shipping materials and supplies. This position verifies shipments for accuracy and quality, maintains organized inventory, prepares materials for distribution, and operates material-handling equipment as needed. The role is essential to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient flow of materials throughout the facility.
