Material Handler
FULL TIME Manual Labor Sturgis, MI, US
Salary Range: $20.39 To $20.39 Hourly
J ob Scope
This role performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for verifying the “blenders” have the correct calcium, colorant, regrind and virgin material
- Move material in and out as required to prevent down time on the press
- Responsible for color changes that occur on the machines, including cleaning the system, draining the regrind, hoppers, filters and blenders
- Responsible for checking material flow
- Support giving breaks as needed
- Pick up the cardboard properly dispose of
- Clean the grinder room and the mechanical room in the Blow Mold department.
- Manage propane tank storage and fills
- Monitor grinders and assist with grinding purge and scrap
- Ensure all color materials are properly labeled and put back into the racks in inventory when a color change is made.
- Understands material codes, scale calibration and batch size and how to set the amount so it will not build up too high and interfere with the pinch tube.
- Keep area clean between the back side of the presses and the wall or the aisle area behind the presses.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED credentials is required
- 6 months – 1 year of direct experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in plastics, is required.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is highly desired
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is highly desired
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, is highly desired
- Basic reading and communication skills in English is required
- Basic math skills and the ability to count is required
- Experience using hand and power tools is highly desired
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability
Physical Requirements

- 8-hour, onsite schedule. Remote work is not available

- Constant gross and fine manipulation
