Precision Castparts Corp. in Compton, CA is seeking a Shipping & Receiving associate for a temp-to-hire role on the 2nd shift (12pm–8:30pm).

You will follow safety policies, verify shipments, label and pack items, and support domestic and international orders. Requirements include 1–2 years of related experience, a High School diploma, Class C driver license, forklift certification, and familiarity with ITAR/EAR.

2nd shift: Hours 12pm - 8:30pm opportunity of OT as needed

Reporting Relationships:

The Shipping & Receiving will report to the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Obtain job assignments from supervisor or leads.
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
• Perform daily housekeeping/ 6S activities as required.
• Practice and follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records both Domestic and International.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers.
• Places items into containers
• Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
• Stamps, stencils or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Operates forklift or uses handtruck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Performs daily vehicle inspections
• Reads shipping order to determine quantity.
• Adheres to quality processes including in-processes inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
• Performs clerical tasks including input into the computer.
• Unpacks incoming shipments.
• Counts articles in shipment.
• Examines shipments for defects and shortages.
• Attaches identification data onto article.
• Compare information on requisitions, invoices and packing lists to material received or issued to verify accuracy of order.
• Safely loads and unloads material unto truck
• Observes loading of conveyance to determine conformance to loading patterns and prevent shifting or damage to materials of products during transit.
• Verifies materials loaded or unloaded against the bill of lading.
• Saws materials to size.
• Assembles materials.
• Bolts heavy pieces to bottom of container or skid.
• Wraps and pads product with excelsior, paper or other packing material.
• Nails cover on crate.
• Wraps and tightens meal bands around crate.
• Repairs broken crates.
• Counts items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders
• Moves container to shipping area and moves lumber, paper and other wrapping supplies to crating area
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety rules, policies, and laws
• Creates shipping documentation.
• Other duties as assigned by supervision.

Required Skills:

• Basic English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions
• Intermediate knowledge to comprehend shipping processes and equipment
• Licensed driver Class C with a clean driving record
• Forklift certification
• Ability to verify part quantity and perform visual inspection for defects or damage
• Ability to lift a maximum of 35 pounds
• No DUI/DWI convictions withithin the past 5 years
• No serious violations of motor vehicle safety or judgement within the past 5 years
• Knowledge of ITAR, EAR, CBP regulations
• Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft suite)
• Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $19.00 to $23.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. Employees will receive 0 hours paid time off every year. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
