Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking a Level One technician to monitor, repair, and maintain forge and heat treat furnaces with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include PM procedures, repairing faults, and assisting with refractory installations.

The role requires reading safety rules and manuals, performing basic calculations, and producing routine reports. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow instructions are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; or five years related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains equipment per manufacturer specs and PM procedures.
  • Rectifies faults reported by production under supervisor guidance.
  • Assists in preventive maintenance procedures for furnaces and equipment.
  • Manufactures thermocouples and survey thermocouples per instructions.
  • Repairs furnace linings and refractories as specified.
  • Sets up survey stands and assists with refractory installations.

Job description

Level One: Applies mechanical and electrical theory and related knowledge to monitor, repair, and maintain all functions of the forge and heat treat furnaces by performing the following duties with minimal supervision.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintains equipment by manufacturer's specifications per preventative maintenance procedures and check furnaces and associated equipment following work order procedures.
  • Rectifies faults and problems reported by the production department under the supervisor's instructions.
  • Assists supervisor in establishing procedures for preventive maintenance of furnaces and equipment.
  • Manufactures temperature uniformity survey thermocouples as defined in the most recent work Instructions.
  • Manufactures thermocouples for production and laboratory testing as defined in the most recent Work Instruction.
  • Carries out necessary repairs to the furnace linings
  • Manufactures refractory fiber modules to specifications.
  • Manufactures refractory cast shapes and carries out repairs to refractory linings to specifications.
  • Prepares and sets survey stands to defined procedures and by the most recent Work Instructions.
  • Assists contractors with refractory installations.
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Experience & Education
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or five years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $20 to $30 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
