Job summary

Community Servings in Mansfield, MA is seeking a full-time Shipper/Receiver to manage the intake and distribution of food supplies, maintain inventory, and support kitchen operations at our Mansfield site. You will inspect items on arrival, ensure proper storage, and drive a refrigerated truck between locations.

Responsibilities include inventory tracking, adherence to safety and sanitation standards, supervising volunteers, and participating in regular kitchen meetings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 1–3 years of shipping/receiving or general clerical experience.
• Experience in receiving and tracking inventory with safety and food handling sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect received products for condition, labeling, and expiration dates.
• Store goods promptly and properly.
• Maintain walk-in refrigerator and dry storage, rotate stock and notify supervisors of issues.
• Drive a refrigerated box truck between Mansfield and Jamaica Plain locations, load/unload.
• Maintain inventory charts for daily usage of food staples and disposables.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation practices.
• Provide supply support to Kitchen leadership for daily operations.
• Oversee volunteers in shipping/receiving and train as required.
• Attend bi-weekly Kitchen operational meetings and monthly staff meeting.

Over the past 36 years, the agency has provided 15M+ free, scratch-made meals.

Summary: Responsible for shipping and receiving and signing for all food supplies and staples

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Thoroughly inspects the conditions of product received through visual, smell, touch and temperature, ingredient labels and expiration dates.
• Conducts timely and proper storage of all received goods.
• Performs daily maintenance of the walk-in refrigerator and dry food storage area by rotating the stock and ensuring the walk in is free of debris and spills. Notifying the Executive Chef or Kitchen Manager of improperly labeled or wrapped food.
• Drive a refrigerated box truck between our Mansfield and Jamaica Plain locations. This includes loading inventory, properly securing the load, unloading at the destination, and moving the goods to the correct location.
• Maintains an accurate inventory chart of Kitchen staff’s daily usage of food staples and disposables.
• Adheres to all enforced safety and sanitation practices.
• Provides supply support to the Executive Chef and Kitchen Manager for the Kitchen’s daily operation
• Oversees the volunteer staff working in shipping and receiving including training as required.
• Attends and participates in the bi-weekly Kitchen operational meeting and the monthly staff meeting.

• Skill to effectively communicate with a multi-cultural population.

• Ability to drive a refrigerated truck of GVW 14,000+ lbs.
• Must possess a Massachusetts driver’s license and provide the Agency a driving record.
• Must be certified to drive a forklift.
• Must be able to work for reasonable amounts of time in cold storage (-10 degrees)
• Must successfully pass a CORI background screen.
• Bi-lingual speaking ability (e.g. Spanish) is a plus.

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent and one to three years’ experience as a Shipper/Receiver or General Clerk in a high-volume food production establishment.
• Demonstrated experience in receiving and tracking inventory and with safety and food handling sanitation standards.
