Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of shipyard shipfitting experience.
• Experience reading complex structural blueprints independently.
• Proficiency with shipfitting tools and layout techniques.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shipbuilding blueprints, structural drawings, and technical specifications.
• Lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural components to tolerances.
• Measure, mark, and position materials using precision measuring tools, levels, squares, and gauges.
• Fit and secure components to required tolerances before final welding.
• Perform tack welding and minor welding as needed to secure assemblies.
• Cut, grind, bevel, and prepare steel and aluminum materials for fabrication and assembly.
• Inspect fitted assemblies for proper alignment, dimensions, and workmanship.
• Follow established shipyard safety procedures.

Job description

We are seeking experienced 1st Class Shipfitters for new construction shipbuilding projects in Marinette, Wisconsin. Candidates must have strong experience reading blueprints, laying out, fitting, and assembling structural steel components for Navy vessels.

Job Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shipbuilding blueprints, structural drawings, and technical specifications.
• Lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural components, including bulkheads, decks, frames, and foundations.
• Measure, mark, and position materials using precision measuring tools, levels, squares, and gauges.
• Fit and secure structural components to required tolerances before final welding.
• Perform tack welding and minor welding as needed to secure assemblies.
• Cut, grind, bevel, and prepare steel and aluminum materials for fabrication and assembly.
• Inspect fitted assemblies for proper alignment, dimensions, and workmanship.
• Follow established shipyard safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in new construction shipbuilding preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret complex structural blueprints independently.
• Experience fitting and assembling structural steel components.
• Proficiency with shipfitting tools, measuring equipment, and layout techniques.
• Ability to pass required single-pass fillet weld testing, which may include:
• FCAW Steel: 3F and 4F on 3/8" plate.
• GMAW-Pulse Aluminum: 3F and 4F on 3/8" plate.
• Break testing of weld samples.

• Monday-Thursday, 5:00 AM-3:00 PM
• Monday-Thursday, 4:00 PM-2:00 AM
• Friday-Sunday, 5:00 AM-5:00 PM; Thursday, 5:00 AM-9:00 AM
• Friday-Sunday, 5:00 PM-5:00 AM; Thursday, 5:00 AM-9:00 AM

Candidates must be available to work any assigned shift.

Pay: $34/hour + $150/day Per Diem
