Job summary

Ameri-Force, Inc. is seeking an experienced 1st Class Shipfitter with advanced blueprint reading skills for a shipyard environment. You will read complex blueprints, layout and assemble steel and aluminum components, and ensure precise fit-up per specifications.

Requirements include prior 1st Class Shipfitter experience, ability to read advanced blueprints, and familiarity with FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW-Pulse welding processes. Safety compliance is essential throughout the shift.

Shipfitter 1st Class

Pay: $40.00/hr
Per Diem: $150.00/day

Sign-On Bonus: $400

Job Description

We are seeking experienced 1st Class Shipfitters with advanced blueprint reading skills and experience working with steel and aluminum in a shipyard environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret complex blueprints and structural drawings.


• Layout, fit, and assemble steel and aluminum components.


• Measure, cut, align, and tack materials according to specifications.


• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.


• Ensure accurate fit-up and follow shipyard safety procedures.

Requirements

• Previous 1st Class Shipfitter experience.


• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints at an advanced level.


• Experience with steel and aluminum fabrication.


• Knowledge of FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW-Pulse welding processes preferred.


• Ability to work independently and follow detailed specifications.

Testing

Mandatory: Advanced blueprint reading test covering steel and aluminum.

Welding tests may include FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW-Pulse. Passing all welding tests is not mandatory.

IMPORTANT: All candidates must pass the blueprint reading assessment to qualify for this position.

Safety & Environmental Factors

All employees are expected to adhere to the company's safety policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. This role involves working under extreme hot or cold conditions and requires the physical ability to stand for the entire shift, use hands for various tasks, ascend stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Team members must occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
