Job summary

Aerotek is seeking experienced Shipfitters in Houston, TX to support major shipbuilding and repair projects. You will fabricate and assemble structural components in a shipyard setting, reading blueprints and ensuring precise fit-up and alignment.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of shipyard shipfitter experience, strong blueprint interpretation, and a commitment to quality and safety. Per diem and competitive hourly wages are offered, with comprehensive medical and retirement benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of Shipfitter experience in a shipyard environment.
• Strong blueprint and drawing interpretation skills.
• Experience with structural fit-up, alignment, and assembly.
• Familiarity with shipbuilding fabrication tools and equipment.
• Ability to work to tight tolerances and quality standards.
• Previous experience with tack welding and weld preparation.
• Strong understanding of shipyard safety practices.
• Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and correct fabrication issues.
