Job description: We are seeking experienced First Class Shipfitters to join our growing team in the ship repair industry. A First Class Shipfitter is a highly skilled tradesperson responsible for advanced structural fitting, fabrication, and repair work on naval and commercial vessels. This role requires mastery of layout, alignment, and installation techniques, along with the ability to independently execute jobs from start to finish.
Perform advanced structural fitting, fabrication, and installation of ship components. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications. Execute precise layout work and ensure proper alignment of structural components. Must fit, tack, and assemble steel and aluminum structures to tight tolerances. Set up and complete jobs independently with minimal supervision. Coordinate with welders, supervisors, and other trades to ensure quality and efficiency. Maintain compliance with all safety and quality standards.
Must have proven experience as a First Class Shipfitter in ship repair (NAVSEA experience preferred). Must have strong knowledge of shipboard structural systems and fitting techniques. Demonstrated ability to set up and complete jobs from beginning to end. High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
Reliable attendance and punctuality are mandatory. Must be able to obtain and maintain access to shipyards and military bases (DBIDS eligibility required). Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including confined spaces and at heights. Must comply with all company and customer safety requirements. U.S. Citizen due to government requirements.
We have openings with both day and night shift. Day shift – 6am-4:30pm. Night shift (Mon-Thurs) 3:30pm-2:00am, Fri & Sat – 3:30pm-11pm. #ISS
