Job summary

Lehigh Heavy Forge Corporation seeks skilled welders to join our heavy fabrication team. You will read drawings, lay out parts to tight tolerances, and operate fabrication equipment including welders, torches, and overhead cranes.

The role requires proficiency with measurement tools and careful interpretation of specifications. You will cut, fit, and weld metal components, inspect welds for quality, and prepare pieces for assembly in a climate-controlled, shipyard-style facility in the Midwest.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Must be able to lay out and measure using metric system and inspect work with precision tools.
• Experience with hand tools and basic fabrication processes.
• Experience with welding operations and metal joining techniques.
• Familiarity with overhead cranes and safe rigging practices.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies per specifications.
• Cut work pieces with powered saws, torches, and plasma equipment.
• Install or repair decks, bulkheads, and tank linings as needed.
• Observe weld quality through hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimensional tolerance checks.
• Prepare grooves, angles, and gaps using precision measuring tools.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Heat, form, and finish metal parts with hand tools and torches.
• Analyze drawings to plan layout and welding methods.
• Develop templates or jigs to hold and align parts as required.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
