Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled shipfitter to lay out and fabricate metal structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and brace them in the hull for riveting or welding.

You will read blueprints, measure and mark reference lines, cut with torch or plasma, tack weld and weld using 7018/6011, MIG, and aluminum, and work under safety standards in a heavy marine yard. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 3–5 years of shipfitting experience; candidates

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; 3–5 years shipfitting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written, oral, or diagram forms.
  • Able to cut and burn with torch or plasma cutter; tack weld with 7018/6011, MIG, and aluminum.

Responsibilities

  • Layout position of parts from blueprints or templates.
  • Align and assemble parts in relation to each other.
  • Prepare molds/templates for nonstandard parts.
  • Perform welding and riveting as required.
  • Maintain safety and environmental rules and policies.
