Job summary

PMAT Inc. seeks a Network Automation Engineer in San Diego to sustain shipboard networks, troubleshoot, update configurations, and improve security posture for CANES deployments.

The role emphasizes Cisco ISE/NAC (802.1X, AAA, profiling) and automation with Ansible and PowerShell. You will collaborate with engineers and operators to deliver resilient transport systems, drive upgrades across deployed configurations, participate in Agile/DevOps, and produce documentation and engineering artifacts.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional network or systems engineering experience.
• Hands-on Cisco ISE/NAC with policy enforcement and profiling.
• Solid understanding of network security and STIG application.
• Experience automating tasks with Ansible or Powershell.
• Ability to troubleshoot CANES or Navy-like shipboard networks.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering sustainment for shipboard networks, including troubleshooting and configuration updates.
• Lead upgrades to network baselines across deployed configurations.
• Implement Cisco ISE/NAC solutions and related policy controls.
• Apply STIGs to network appliances and shipboard systems to strengthen security.
• Develop and maintain automation tooling (Ansible, Powershell) for sustainment.
• Troubleshoot Cisco platforms (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, AnyConnect) in CANES environments.
• Support analysis and resolution of baseline-specific deployment issues.
• Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) within Agile/DevOps practices.
• Create and update configuration docs, sustainment procedures, and technical guides.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and PMWs for sustainment activities.
