Job summary

American Cruise Lines is seeking a Licensed Engineer to oversee the technical operation and maintenance of our vessels. You will ensure propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary systems run safely and efficiently while supporting shipboard operations across itineraries on inland and coastal waters.

Responsibilities include 24-hour response to equipment issues, regular inspections, and collaboration with officers and crew. The role requires MMC and willingness to live aboard for extended periods.

Qualifications

• MMC required for licensed Engineer on US-flag ships.
• Experience with diesel propulsion, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and safety discipline.
• Excellent communication and teamwork aboard a vessel.
• Willingness to live and work on a ship for extended periods.
• Pre-employment drug test and ongoing random testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot shipboard propulsion and electrical systems.
• Perform regular inspections and respond 24/7 to technical issues.
• Coordinate repairs and shipboard maintenance with crew and contractors.
• Implement maintenance schedules and document all activities.
• Support docking, logistics, and fuel management to optimize efficiency.
• Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with regulations.
