Job summary

HII is seeking a Machinist to support the SEMAT Hawaii team at Pearl Harbor, HI. You will machine, fabricate, and refurbish shipboard components and provide mechanical maintenance and training to shipboard personnel for operation and repair of engineering systems/equipment aboard USN surface ships.

The role requires reading ship drawings, performing set-up on manual machines, and ensuring dimensional accuracy with precision tools. Travel is possible; security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• High School or trade school or equivalent.
• 4 years of related experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance.
• Must read and interpret equipment and ship drawings and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Machine, fabricate, and refurbish shipboard components using templates and technical drawings; repair, manufacture, modify, test parts.
• Set up and operate conventional lathe, milling, band saws, drill press, and other manual tools.
• Determine speeds, feeds, coolants, and abrasives for cutting, turning, drilling, milling, boring, threading, reaming, honing, shaping, grinding or finishing.
