Job summary

Serco is seeking an Experienced Engineering Technician to join our Newport News, VA team supporting U.S. Navy shipboard projects. You will perform electrical work, testing, data recording, and troubleshooting to ensure mission readiness.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. You will work in shipyard environments, handle safety programs, and travel up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be able to obtain DoD Secret Clearance.
• Must be able to access NAVSTA & DBIDS and pass background/drug screen.
• OSHA 10 certification is required.
• Must be respirator qualified and wear PPE during shifts.
• Experience in electrical work and shipboard environments preferred.
• Two years of combined experience including fiber optic and multi-pin connectors, reading drawings, QA duties, and safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions on electrical systems.
• Perform tests and modify setups; operate standard test equipment and record data.
• Perform electrical work on ships, boats, and marine equipment.
• Record engineering data, read drawings, and plot data for QA.
• Conduct routine tests including tensile or hardness tests and document results.
