Job summary

United Support Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Shipboard Telecommunications Mechanic II to support U.S. Navy operations in the Hampton Roads, VA area.

You will install, maintain and repair voice and non-voice communications systems on ships and shore facilities, including intercoms, PA, and alarm networks. Applicants should have shipboard experience, an associate degree, and the ability to obtain a government clearance.

Qualifications

• Must have shipboard experience.
• Associate’s Degree in a related field.
• Ability to pass a government background investigation.
• Must have Security Clearance.
• Driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot voice and non-voice communications systems aboard ships.
• Install and maintain telecommunications cabling and networking equipment.
• Run cables to telephone sets and related equipment, per specs.
• Maintain fire and alarm systems, CATV, and LAN equipment.
• Provide technical assistance to operators and specialists.
• Read and follow technical documentation and schematics.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and work in ship environments.
