Job summary

Serco is seeking Advanced Mechanical Assemblers to support U.S. Navy shipboard installations in Norfolk, VA.

You will work on a dynamic team fabricating and assembling electromechanical systems, following blueprints and safety guidelines to deliver high-technology assemblies onboard ships and at installations. The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance, and OSHA/further certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent completed.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance.
• Ability to access shipyards and pass a background check.
• OSHA certification and respirator qualification are expected.
• Forklift certification and PPE compliance required.
• 5+ years using power tools for large and small assemblies.
• Shipboard experience in related field preferred.
• Read drawings, drill holes, cut metal, torque wrench work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Follow blueprints and diagrams to fabricate and assemble electromechanical and electronic parts.
• Maintain equipment by performing preventive maintenance per manufacturers' instructions.
• Work with standard concepts and procedures in the field.
• Plan and accomplish goals with limited guidance.
• Work onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations with exposure to drafts and noise.
• Handle equipment with safety to avoid injury; follow safety protocols.
• Bolting/unbolting cableways, deck plates, and equipment as required.
• Read blueprints and assembly drawings for various subassemblies; fabricate as needed.
