Job summary

Specialty Resins in Pasadena, TX seeks a Chemical Process Technician to operate plant equipment from board and field, monitor process conditions, and coordinate with lab and maintenance to produce a quality product safely and cost-effectively.

You will monitor batches, material dosing, temperatures, and equipment like centrifuges and driers, while maintaining logs and ensuring clean, safe operations. This role requires a High School diploma or GED, plus technical training or experience.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• Trade school or two years college is highly desirable.
• Satisfactory completion of Chemical Process Technician course, or process operator experience.
• Experience in batch plant operations and solids handling highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Operate the plant equipment (from the board and in the field) to produce a quality product in a safe and cost-effective manner.
• Monitor control board and outside indicators for process conditions to produce and process the designated products in a safe, controlled and quality manner.
• Monitor raw material levels for sufficient supply and report deficiencies to the Shift Supervisor.
• Monitor reaction batches for progression through the batch sequence in a timely manner.
• Monitor reaction batch dosing to ensure correct raw material addition.
• Maintain close control of reaction temperature to minimize product deviation.
• Monitor/adjust centrifuge conditions for efficient processing.
• Monitor/adjust dryer conditions for efficient processing.
• Package products in appropriate containers and sample as designated.
• Deliver samples to the lab as requested.
• Clean process equipment during product changes to prevent cross contamination.
• Maintain equipment operational status to prevent external contamination.
• Clean equipment after process upsets to get back in service.
• Maintain batch processing and downstream processing records (logs, centrifuge/dryer conditions, daily packaging logs, data entry).
• Report abnormal process conditions to the Shift Supervisor.
• Make written reports of all process upsets on the day they are detected.
• Check equipment for oil levels, leaks, unusual vibration/noise, reactor build ups, and report abnormalities.
• Maintain plant housekeeping for safe operating environment.
• Prepare equipment for repairs/modifications by maintenance personnel.
• Perform safety equipment checks (showers, extinguishers, sprinklers).
• Fill batch feed tanks as necessary.
• Receive/unload bulk and containerized raw materials as necessary.
• Be available for on-call duty and perform other duties as requested.
• Attend refresher and/or new process & safety training.
