Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position that prepares an employee to perform higher-level supervisory roles, such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The trainee performs work as directed to prepare for future supervisory responsibilities, completes basic operations and management skills training, and learns about key aspects of the business (e.g., building customer loyalty through exceptional service) and CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, trainees are eligible for promotion to open Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor positions. These leadership roles support the CVS Store Management team in driving store execution and performance while building customer loyalty through excellent service. When no manager is onsite, the supervisor leads store staff, ensures smooth operations, and is responsible for opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate deductive reasoning, analytical, and computer skills.
• Exhibit advanced communication skills.
• Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Management

• Work effectively with store management and staff.
• Supervise store crew by assigning, directing, and following up on activities.
• Communicate effectively with management and staff.

Customer Service

• Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints.
• Promote CVS’s customer service culture (greet, help, thank).
• Handle customer relations issues per company policy to ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Maintain customer confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

• Deductive reasoning, analytical, and computer skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in retail.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is $16.00 - $24.00 per hour. The actual offer depends on experience, education, location, and other factors.
