Job summary

Pandrol USA LP in Memphis, TN is seeking a production supervisor to lead daily direct labor activities, drive Lean initiatives, and ensure safety and quality standards are met. You will coach staff, manage training, and coordinate with maintenance and quality to keep production on track.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years in manufacturing, strong leadership, and excellent communication in English. Occasional weekend work on non-operating tasks may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge including 5S, Tier meetings, and problem-solving methodologies (4D, 8D, A3).
  • Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to train all levels of the organization, across all shifts of operation.
  • Excellent communication in English, verbal and written.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Motivated, detail-oriented, and self-directed; able to work without supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily activities of production direct labor to meet safety, quality and production goals.
  • Coach and discipline employees; oversee training and attendance policies.
  • Review production schedules and assign duties by order priorities.
  • Manage shift schedules, workstation assignments, rotations, training, vacations, breaks and overtime.
  • Lead shift start and changeover meetings; facilitate Tier 1 meetings among operations, maintenance and quality.
  • Run meetings with Plant Manager and other departments; communicate regularly across shifts.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and quality to resolve production issues; ensure Lean practices are followed.
  • Occasionally work weekends on non-operating tasks.

  • MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
  • To support and leadwith ahands-onapproach, the daily activities of allsteel plant production direct labor personnel.By communicating jobexpectations;planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.Coaching and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems,policies,and procedures; and to ensure scheduled production and all Safety and Quality standards are met.
  • Provides trainingand coachingto employees as needed.Regularly updating the training matrix.
  • To support and take part in the Inventory Control Process
  • To lead the shiftand productionline processesfor Steel.
  • Review and approve approve employeetimecards. Along with closelymonitoringthe attendance policy system.
  • Embrace the Pandrol core values. Disseminating the culture though out the team.
  • KEY AREAS OF ACTIVITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
  • Ability tocompile, read and interpretproduction reports.
  • Reviews production schedules and work ordersand assigns duties to workers according to order priorities.
  • Responsible for shift scheduleof temporary and full-time employees,including workstation assignments/ rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignments, backup for absent employees and shift rotations.
  • Holds shift startandchangeover meetings with employees for improved communication.Along with leading the tier 1 meetings between operations,maintenance,and quality.
  • Attends meetings as needed. Schedules and conducts shift meetings as needed and communicates regularly with other Shift supervisors,the Plant Manager, Maintenance and Quality Departments.
  • Attend training for self-development, improvement, and skill strengthening as required or needed.
  • To conduct employee performance reviewsand promote continuous improvement
  • Initiates and fosters a spirit ofcooperatingwithin and between departments. Working very closely with the maintenance and quality departments.
  • Initiates and verifies that 5Simprovements are beingimplemented andmaintained.
  • Confers with management and other supervisors to resolve production issues.
  • Ensures safety requirements are met by enforcing the use of personal protective equipment and requiring team members to keep work areas clean and organized according to Lean Manufacturing.Reports near misses, injuries andrequiredfirst aid to Safetyspecialist.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.
  • Occasionally work weekends with the team on non-operating tasks.

  • SKILLS NEEDED

  • Well versed withLean manufacturing knowledge. Including, but not limited to: 5S, Tier meetings,andproblem-solvingmethodologies (4D, 8D, A3).
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Motivated, detail oriented, and self-directedand must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily without reasonable accommodation/supervision.
  • Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills essential .
  • Basic computer skillsincluding familiarity with MS Office and Windows.
  • Ability to work with employeesin a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate andcomprehendthe English language, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to lift,up to 50 pounds andstand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to train all levels of the organization, across all shifts of operation.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends/developments in Quality, Safety, and Environmental practices through regular formal trainingprovided by Pandrol .
  • MEASUREMENT

Primary measures of successful performance will be:

  • Achieve production goals of shift ina timelyandaccuratemanner.
  • Regularly pass 5S assessments by site leaders.
  • Pass LEAN manufacturing assessments by Global OPEX team.
  • Quality goals, on time delivery,and safety goalsas set by company policies and management team
  • Receive zero notices of violation or administrative consent ordersregardingenvironmental, legal, and regulatory requirements.
