Job summary

American Wheatley in Broken Arrow, OK is seeking a Shift Supervisor to manage daily shop-floor operations, ensure production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and with quality. This role leads from the floor, builds accountability within the team, and drives continuous improvement.

You’ll oversee safety, production KPIs, and team development, collaborating with maintenance, engineering, and quality to reduce downtime and deliver on-time results.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in manufacturing, fabrication, or mechanical assembly.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Strong knowledge of production, safety, and quality processes.
  • Ability to manage shop-floor teams and interpret blueprints/work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily shop-floor operations, ensuring schedule adherence, production accuracy, and on-time completion.
  • Assign work, adjust priorities, and track key production KPIs (output, scrap, rework, labor utilization).
  • Ensure equipment reliability, support inventory accuracy, and validate scrap.
  • Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality to reduce downtime and improve performance.
  • Oversee welding, fabrication, painting, and labor teams; coach and develop personnel; support hiring and onboarding.

Description
Shift Supervisor

Location: Broken Arrow, OK

Schedule: Approximately 4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m. (Overtime Required)

Reports To: Shop Supervisor

Status: Full-Time | Non-Exempt

The Shift Supervisor plays a critical role in managing daily shop-floor operations. This role ensures that production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and with a high degree of quality. The ideal candidate leads from the floor, builds accountability within the team, and drives continuous improvement.

Overtime is expected based on production demands. This position is also responsible for proper delegation throughout the day and a structured handoff to second shift to ensure operational continuity.

What You’ll Do
Safety Leadership
  • Champion a safety-first culture and complete 30+ safety observations per month
  • Lead daily pre-shift meetings to communicate safety topics, goals, and expectations
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies
Production & Operations Management
  • Oversee daily shop-floor operations, ensuring schedule adherence, production accuracy, and on-time completion
  • Assign work, adjust priorities, and track key production KPIs (output, scrap, rework, labor utilization)
  • Ensure equipment reliability, support inventory accuracy, and validate scrap
  • Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality to reduce downtime and improve performance
Team Leadership & Development
  • Supervise welders, fabricators, painters, and general labor personnel
  • Train and cross-train employees to build team flexibility and redundancy
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action as neededSupport hiring, onboarding, and accountability within a performance-driven culture
Continuous Improvement
  • Implement Lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices
  • Support operational and process improvement initiatives (OMA)
  • Lead root-cause problem solving and actively resolve shop-floor issues
Requirements

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or mechanical assembly
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience
  • Strong knowledge of production, safety, and quality processes
  • Ability to manage shop-floor teams and interpret blueprints/work orders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift certification or experience overseeing powered industrial trucks
  • ERP system and Microsoft Excel experience
