Job summary

Charter Next Generation, Inc. is seeking a Direct Labor leader for Lexington, OH. You will supervise printing on plastic film, monitor schedules, and ensure color accuracy and quality across presses. This role emphasizes safety, lean initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration with extrusion and converting teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in manufacturing leadership, can work 12-hour shifts, lift up to 65 lbs, and communicate effectively within a dynamic, ownership-driven environment.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate activities of employees engaged in printing on plastic film using flexographic or gravure presses.
• Monitor production schedules, adjust staffing or equipment use to meet targets and minimize downtime.
• Oversee setup, operation, and maintenance of printing presses and associated equipment.
• Ensure proper color matching, registration, and print quality per customer specs.
• Conduct regular quality checks and resolve product/process issues in real time.
• Collaborate with extrusion and converting departments to ensure smooth materials flow.
• Mentor and evaluate team members; enforce safety protocols and company policies.
• Ensure staff is trained and growing in operator roles; manage day-to-day responsibilities.
• Manage inventory of inks, solvents, plates and other printing supplies.
• Ensure compliance with EHS regulations including chemical handling and waste disposal.
• Lead 5S, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement in printing areas.
• Drive engagement for reporting team; lead weekly huddles and team meetings.

The Role

From machine operators to maintenance technicians to quality inspectors, our teams help protect what matters most—making everyday life safer, smarter, and more sustainable.

Schedule: Work only 15 days per month with our unique rotating 3-4 day schedule

• B – Night Shift: 7:00pm - 7:00am (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & alternating Saturdays)

What You'll Do

• Supervise and coordinate activities of employees engaged in printing on plastic film using flexographic or gravure presses.


• Monitor production schedules, adjust staffing or equipment use to meet targets, and minimize downtime.

• Ensure proper color matching, registration, and print quality in alignment with customer specifications.


• Conduct regular quality checks and resolve any product or process issues in real-time.


• Collaborate with the extrusion and converting departments to ensure seamless flow of materials and information.


• Mentor, and evaluate team members; enforce safety protocols and company policies.


• Ensure staff is trained and growing in operator roles


• Manage day to day responsibilities, engagement, and success of Material Handler Team


• Maintain accurate production and downtime records; report metrics and improvement opportunities to leadership.


• Manage inventory of inks, solvents, plates, and other printing supplies.


• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations including proper handling of chemicals and waste disposal.


• Lead 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement efforts in the printing area.


• Drive Engagement for reporting team


• Lead weekly huddles and team meetings

What You’ll Bring

Essential Qualifications:

• 5+ years of leadership experience required, with experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.


• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and lift up to 65 pounds


• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with measuring tools


• Strong communication skills and positive attitude


• Willingness to learn and adapt in a technical environment


• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of plastic extrusion experience


• Basic computer knowledge


• Previous manufacturing experience


• Wages ranging from $27.00 + per hour, dependent on experience.


• Additional $2.50 per hour night shift differential.
