Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 1 year in leadership.

ABOUT LMI PACKAGING
LMI is a third-generation family-owned business with over 50 years in the flexible packaging market. We produce heat seal lidding for the food and beverage markets. We are currently seeking a 2nd Shift Supervisor to oversee our Printing and Die Cutting Operations.


JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Shift Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring, supporting, and directing the work of the Die Cut and Print operations during the shift, focusing on safety, quality management, and productivity.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Lead and supervise production staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.
  2. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of production orders and tasks according to production expectations and deadlines.
  3. Monitor and troubleshoot production processes to minimize downtime and prevent defects or delays.
  4. Conduct daily shift handovers, ensuring clear communication of goals, progress, challenges, and important updates.
  5. Enforce safety and PPE policies, maintaining a safe working environment for all employees.
  6. Interview candidates and play an active role in hiring, coaching, motivating, and developing team.
  7. Assist in setting performance objectives and holding team accountable to key performance indicators.
  8. Conduct performance evaluations and provide training, coaching, and mentoring to new and existing team members to foster their development.
  9. Address any behavioral or performance issues with employees immediately and discipline when necessary.
  10. Collaborate with other departments such as Quality, Maintenance, and Scheduling to maintain production flow.
  11. Manage labor schedules, monitor employee attendance, approve timecards, and track productivity.
  12. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, SQF, and IMS standards.
  13. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation for production activities, quality control, and safety inspections.
  14. Implement continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback to management to improve processes, equipment, and workflows.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
Previous experience with Die Cutting or Printing operations a plus.


SKILLS
  1. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
  2. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  3. Integrity to lead and coach employees in a fair, ethical, and legal manner to protect the business, its employees and its assets.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members and management.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot production issues quickly and efficiently.
  6. Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  7. Participate and support the internal team compliance of established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Food Safety and Quality Standards (FSQS).
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software and the ability to learn new systems and tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Standing and walking, occasionally for long periods, within manufacturing facilities.
Capable of working an 8-10 hour shift (Monday - Friday), some weekends may be required.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
PPE including hairnets, safety glasses/goggles, ear protection, and steel-toe shoes are required to be worn in production areas.
