Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks a Communications Center Supervisor to oversee daily shift operations and ensure timely, policy-compliant information dissemination within the Communications Center. This role requires scheduling, training oversight, and adherence to NCIC/CJIS standards.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least one year as a communications specialist, plus NCIC certification and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 1 year of experience as a communications specialist.
• NCIC certification in accordance with NCIC policy.
• Managerial/supervisory experience preferred.
• Familiarity with CJIS/NCIC standards and policies.
• Excellent communication skills and clear speech.
• Ability to operate with limited supervision.
• Experience using Windows computer software.
• Basic Telecommunications Officer Training or equivalent National Incident Management System 100, 200, 700, 800, 240.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the assigned shift within the Communications Center.
• Oversee telephone, computer, and radio communications to ensure timely, policy-compliant information dissemination.
• Review Communications Center logs for accuracy and policy compliance.
• Address disciplinary issues and complaints for shift personnel promptly.
• Maintain and update shift schedules to reflect call-outs and time requests.
• Coordinate training for new hires and assign Communication Training Officers (CTOs).
• Review training completion and ensure new hires are cleared to work independently.
• Support Communications Coordinator with assigned tasks and quality assurance reviews.
• Assist in meeting NCIC requirements and compliance standards.
• Provide guidance to shift employees during scheduled hours and cover staffing shortages as needed.
• Serve as a Telecommunications Operator during shortages to maintain operations.
