Job summary

Dyno Nobel in Illinois is seeking a Production Supervisor responsible for safe, efficient production operations, providing leadership to off-shift staff across multi-value streams. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will drive zero-harm initiatives and ensure compliance with HSE standards while meeting production targets.

You will lead teams, coach employees, monitor KPIs, and engage in continuous improvement initiatives, including RCA and change management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years related technical experience.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to understand Safety, Quality, Capacity and Continuous Improvement aspects of all processes.
  • Must satisfy the requirements for a "possessor of explosives" as defined by BATFE.
  • Ability to read and interpret Safety rules, Work Instructions, Process Specs and Quality Plans.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be the leader in the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety and report in appropriate systems. You will be responsible for identifying and taking ownership of opportunities to raise standards of performance. Other duties will include:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations.
  • Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values.
  • Align with the Business Excellence, identify and implement framework and strategy to reduce waste and improve quality, productivity and safety performance within the assigned departments.
  • Provide leadership through direction, support and guidance regarding all activities to meet production requirements.
  • Managing, motivating and developing employees.
  • Track KPIs for the departments.
  • Facilitate problem solving driving thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Direct and coordinate operation resources to ensure customer demands are met.
  • Foster alignment to manufacturing strategies such as cost reductions, productivity improvements, organizational development, and safety performance to meet corporate business strategies through the use of continuous improvement and the Management of Change process.
  • Participate in incident investigations, regulatory inspections and audits and close all related actions items.
  • Responsibility for coordinating and leading daily manufacturing teams which includes but not limited to reporting, coaching, planning and administrative coordination of resources.

What We’re Looking For
  • High School diploma required
  • Associates and/or Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years related technical experience.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to understand Safety, Quality, Capacity and Continuous Improvement aspects of all processes
  • Knowledge of and the ability to troubleshoot issues in all of the various processes
  • Must satisfy the requirements for a "possessor of explosives" as defined by BATFE
  • Ability to provide direction and coaching to others in an effective leadership manner
  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration among all shift employees
  • Ability to listen, understand and take technical data from others into consideration in making operational decisions
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Safety rules, Work Instructions, Process Specs, Quality Plans, Employee Handbook, Employee information booklet and, and Packaging Standards
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively in both written and verbal manner.
  • SAP and Microsoft office proficiency
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
