Job summary

Sasol in Lake Charles, LA is seeking a seasoned supervisor to lead manufacturing operations on a shift. You will oversee safety, incident response, and plant performance, ensuring compliance with environmental and quality procedures.

The role requires 5+ years in industrial operations, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage a broad workload and respond to crises. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required; a High School Diploma or GED is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Supervises all aspects of manufacturing operations (first level supervisor)
• Responds to safety and environmental incidents as incident commander until relieved
• Monitors plant operating conditions to ensure safe, efficient and environmentally sound operations
• Directs shift to enable effective plant operation and problem resolution
• Coordinates activities between Operations and Mechanical Departments during off-hours
• Conducts Safety Meetings for their team on shift
• Investigates and documents safety, environmental, and quality incidents and reports findings
• Develops and trains personnel on respective shifts
• Ensures reviews and documentation for management systems and procedures are completed for the shift
• Directs activities of various contractors and ensures compliance with procedures and regulations
• Maintains fixed and variable costs within budget

Location: Lake Charles, United States

Key Accountabilities

• Supervises all aspects of manufacturing operations (first level supervisor)
• Responds to safety and environmental incidents and serve as incident commander until relieved
• Monitors and adjusts plant operating conditions in a manner that allows for safe, efficient and environmentally sound operations
• Provides assistance and direction to their shift to allow for effective plant operation and problem resolution
• Coordinates activities between the Operations and Mechanical Departments during off-hours
• Conducts Safety Meetings for their team when on shift
• Investigates and documents safety, environmental, and quality incidents per procedure and reports findings to the appropriate personnel
• Develops and trains personnel on respective shifts
• Assumes duties of Operations Superintendent, Process Support Specialist, Gatekeeper or Unit Manager when assigned
• Ensures all applicable reviews and associated documentation for management systems, Unit Operating Procedures, and SHE Procedures is completed for their respective shift
• Directs and is responsible for the activities on their shift (3-12 employees)
• Orders operating supplies up to $50,000 per purchase requisition
• Notifies governmental regulatory agencies when reportable environmental incidents occur
• Directs the activities of various contractors in the unit (Vacuum trucks, chemical cleaning, etc.)
• Ensures compliance with company procedures and government regulations
• Responsible for maintaining fixed and variable cost within budget

Formal Education

• High School Diploma, GED or higher
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Not required)

Working Experience

• 5+ years extensive industrial experience in an operating unit
• Unit experience/knowledge

Required Personal and Professional Skills

• Good interpersonal skills
• Must be able to manage a broad workload and respond appropriately to crisis situations
