Job summary

Sasol (USA) Corporation in Lake Charles, LA seeks an Operational Excellence Program Manager to drive OE initiatives across the U.S. region and align local practices with global standards.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage OE projects, monitor progress and budgets, and ensure tool adoption. Travel may be required. Bachelor’s in engineering or science, 10+ years chemical processing, 5+ years leadership, and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years managerial experience, operations management preferred.
• Experience in business process development and implementation.

Purpose of Job

Responsible for implementing Operations Excellence (OE) initiatives across the U.S. region. Ensures consistent execution of OE programs, supports adoption of standard practices, and drives continuous improvement. Works with global OE teams to represent U.S. regional needs and support alignment of global standards with local operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Coordinates cross-functional teams to execute improvement initiatives and monitor performance metrics
• Plan and manage OE projects ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
• Monitor project progress, timeline and budgets and report the status to Senior Leadership
• Ensure OE tools and methodologies are applied consistently and effectively through alignment with global OE teams.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to OE initiatives, including project charters, process maps and performance metrics
• Provide support to Sites for variable cost optimization
• Serves as the regional focal point for all relevant stakeholders and engages with them regularly to solicit input, ideas, and feedback.
• Responsible for the evaluation of ideas (estimates business value and ROI and develops timeline and scope) if senior management decides that the idea fits to the strategy of the group to become a project
• Reviews the project progress at the end of every sprint or Gate
• Initiates and prepares Gate Reviews and Steering Committee meetings, supports the communication and promotion of OE programs and initiatives

Formal Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science

Working Experience

• 10 plus years of industrial experience in Chemical Process
• 5 plus years of managerial experience, operations management preferred
• Previous management training or experience, particularly in supervision or interpersonal skills management, is a prerequisite
• Previous experience in business process development and implementation

Required Personal & Professional Skills

• Capability to handle a large work volume and develop a wide breadth of knowledge to operate effectively in all areas of responsibility
• Knowledge of management systems related to Operations, SHE, Technical Services and Maintenance
• Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong sense of business acumen with continuous improvement as a priority
• Management style must include values driven leadership, cultural sensitivity, strong business acumen, team focused, networking and relationship building ability, and capable of blending innovative ideas with practical solutions Some travel may be required
