About The Company

As a Shift Supervisor, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure employees are trained on job specific assignments and equipment
  • Ensure equipment and tools are in good working order and available for use when required
  • Issue Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) and tools as necessary
  • Monitor and enforce cellphone prohibition of the production floor personnel.
  • Immediately report employee incidents, issues or complaints to the Plant Manager
  • Assist in gathering employee accident or injury information by providing and completing the required forms and following the proper employee accident and injury procedures
  • Uphold key safety standards to include but not limited to LOTO, machine guarding and fall protection.
  • Enforces along with Plant Manager all safety standards, policies and procedures through application of progressive discipline.
  • Monitor and enforce work start, break, and stop times of the production floor personnel
  • Manage workforce schedules and assignments to distribute labor efficiently
  • Monitor employee work performance relative to expectations
  • Ensure employees are upholding all job policy and procedure training
  • Communicate clear expectations to production personnel, keep them informed of matters pertaining to their job, and develop personnel growth opportunities
  • Create and maintain a positive work atmosphere.
  • Continuously evaluate the plant layout and material workflow and modify when needed to increase throughput and productivity
  • Oversee Quality Technicians to ensure cullet meets customer specifications and ensure all stations are producing product to the company’s standards
  • Supervise plant housekeeping promoting the 5s method and following housekeeping schedules; maintain a safe and clean work environment always
  • Ensure material is supplied to the workstations efficiently
  • Ensure daily production goals are met
  • Set up/Monitor/Adjust line speeds and equipment
  • Load/Unload trucks/vans as needed
  • Ensure quality tests are completed as required, and enter results into the computer
  • Operate front end loader and forklifts as required
  • Transfer shift; Communicate quality/maintenance/safety issues, material overage/shortage, pending tasks, and production changes to the next shift supervisor; ensure plant is clean and orderly for next shift
  • Attend and participate in regular production meetings
  • Manage the plant maintenance system; Fix, Repair, and adjust all equipment as needed
  • Perform periodic preventive maintenance checks as required
  • Train and assist plant personnel in operating equipment and perform basic maintenance
  • Fill out maintenance requests as necessary
  • Analyze quality results and adjust equipment as needed
  • Stage parts and supplies as needed
  • Support and champion lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Understand basic electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repairs
  • Understand the basic functions and intricacies of machines within the plant
  • Monitor the daily checks of all equipment
  • Ensure detailed work instructions are in place for each piece of equipment
  • Assist in line setup for optimal processing.


Qualifications And Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School diploma/GED required; College degree preferred
  • 2-5+ years supervisory experience required
  • Ability to train employees
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with little direction
  • Strong Mechanical Aptitude and knowledge of plant manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of lean and 5s principles, unprocessed materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Strong Leadership, management, and team building skills
  • Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to operate forklifts & other heavy equipment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Glass processing knowledge is a plus


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Successfully demonstrated track record of driving operational and cultural improvements for full facility turn around.
  • The successful candidate will have eight to ten (8-10) years of operations leadership experience directing several of the following disciplines:

  • An undergraduate degree in chemical, mechanical, industrial/manufacturing engineering, production technology or operations management is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Skilled leveraging advanced technologies, processes & equipment and systems including process technologies would be ideal. Experience utilizing large, complex equipment is preferred. The ability to improve throughput and quality is imperative.
  • Strong technical and engineering background with the capability to help evaluate equipment, re-engineer systems & processes, layouts and flows, automation strategies, etc. Also, proficient to lead the capital equipment assessment, justification, and integration process for the plant.
  • Successfully demonstrates a track record of implementing manufacturing improvement programs (lean manufacturing), monitoring and evaluating systems. This candidate must know how to determine the status of activities, identify problems, as well as develop “work around” and corrective action plans quickly.
  • The ability to contribute to the development of operating plans and strategic initiatives.
  • The ability to contribute to the development of operating plans and strategic initiatives. Experience preparing production plans, new product integration programs, cost reduction strategies, technology & automation plans, etc. Work closely with peers in other professional and corporate functions.
  • Successful background working in non-union settings and is comfortable functioning as a “change agent”, building positive employee relations and developing communications programs throughout all organization levels.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to make presentations to staff and corporate headquarters executives. Capable of building strong working relationships with peers, subordinates, suppliers, customers, etc.
