Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety initiatives, ensure EH&S compliance, and foster proactive employee involvement in safety.
  • Serve as the senior operational leader during off-shift hours, executing 1st shift plans safely and effectively.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and hold supervisors accountable for performance and engagement.
  • Ensure cross-shift alignment by communicating results and issues to Production Line Managers and stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve issues impacting production, quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to site supervisors while upholding quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate production priorities.
  • Administer progressive disciplinary procedures per company policy.
  • Lead continuous improvement through problem solving and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Promote clear communication and a positive change-ready culture across departments.
  • Oversee safety incident responses and ensure protocol adherence.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs and equipment improvements as needed.
  • Maintain shop floor organization, housekeeping, and plant cleanliness.
  • Attend local off-site meetings as needed; travel up to 5%.

The Off-Shift Manager oversees sitewide operations in McPherson Kansas for the off shifts (2nd, 3rd, Weekend). This position is dedicated to ensuring lead and support supervisors across multiple departments maintain consistent operational excellence to include safety, adherence to quality standards, culture alignment and production efficiency. This leadership role is integral in Viega’s commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction, creating a culture of accountability and growth.

What You'll Do:
  • Champion a strong safety culture by leading Safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with EH&S standards, and fostering proactive employee involvement in workplace safety.
  • Serve as the senior operational leader during off-shift hours, ensuring production plans established by 1st Shift leadership are executed safely, effectively, and in accordance with business objectives.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and hold supervisors accountable for team performance, employee engagement, performance management, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Ensure operational continuity and alignment across shifts by communicating off-shift decisions, performance results, employee matters, and operational issues to Production Line Managers and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify, elevate, and resolve issues impacting production, quality, safety, and productivity, while ensuring significant decisions and changes remain aligned with established operational priorities.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to site supervisors while reinforcing company quality standards and expectations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication, coordination, and execution of production priorities.
  • Administer progressive disciplinary procedures consistently and in accordance with company policies.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts through problem-solving, innovation, and implementation of process, material, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure supervisors effectively direct, develop, and support employees through established performance management practices.
  • Promote clear communication, conflict resolution, and a positive, change-ready culture across departments and shifts.
  • Oversee responses to safety incidents, ensuring timely and consistent adherence to company protocols.
  • Support and sustain preventive maintenance programs while recommending facility and equipment improvements as needed.
  • Maintain shop floor organization, housekeeping, and plant cleanliness standards.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support operational and business needs.
  • Will be required to attend occasional, local off-site meetings and, as needed, operate a motor vehicle for business purposes. Reasonable accommodations will be considered.
  • Will be required to travel up to 5% of the time.
What We're Looking For:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing tools and philosophies.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Knowledge of computer software such as SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of basic English, including reading, writing and arithmetic.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of quality while continually performing at the highest possible level.
Education & Experience
  • High school graduate.
  • 5+ years of operations leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.

Total Rewards Package:
Compensation
  • Base: $76,000 - $99,000 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
  • Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
