Job summary

Mars Incorporated in Columbus, OH is seeking a Shift Manager for the Mars Petcare facility. The role leads a 15-22 person production team, drives continuous improvement, and ensures safety, quality, and budget adherence on second and third shifts.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 3+ years of people leadership, 5+ years in CI manufacturing, and proficiency with MS Office. Hybrid schedule with a 7:00 PM–3:30 AM shift is offered with competitive pay.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 15-22 associates to convert materials into quality products with safety and budget adherence.
• Recommend and implement CI improvements in methods, equipment, systems, safety, and product quality.
• Guide teams through Autonomous Maintenance (AM).
• People management including hiring, coaching, training and evaluating associate performance and development plans.
• Assist Production Leads in coordinating materials, staffing, and resources for efficient line operations and changeovers.
• Handle additional ad hoc tasks as needed.

Shift Schedule:

• Shift: Hybrid 2nd & 3rd
• Schedule: Monday- Friday
• Hours: 7pm- 3:30am

Description of Role:

The Shift Manager is an operations people leader who efficiently improves Human Safety, Quality, and Conversion Costs while Engaging and Developing talent in the production facility.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent education
• 3+ years of direct people leadership experience
• 5+ years working in a Continuous Improvement manufacturing environment
• Ability to effectively deploy training strategies and to directly train others.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and email

Physical Requirements:

• Can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
• Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
• Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
• Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
• Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
• Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.
