Job summary

Mars Incorporated in Columbus, OH is seeking a Shift Manager (Finance) to lead a 15-22 person team on a hybrid 2nd/3rd shift, with hours 7:00 PM–3:30 AM. The role focuses on safety, quality and cost control while developing talent in a production facility.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, have 3+ years of people leadership experience, 5+ years in CI manufacturing, and can train others. Proficiency in MS Office is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to deploy training strategies and train others.

Responsibilities

• Lead team of 15-22 associates to convert materials into quality products while ensuring safety, security, sanitation, and adherence to design specifications and budgets.
• Recommend and implement CI improvements in methods, equipment, systems, safety, product quality and the organization.
• Guide teams through Autonomous Maintenance (AM).
• People management including hiring, coaching, training and evaluating associate performance and creating development plans aligned with career goals.
• Assist Production Leads in coordinating materials, staffing, and resources for efficient line operations and changeovers.
• Handle additional ad hoc tasks as needed.

Description of Role

The Shift Manager is an operations people leader who efficiently improves Human Safety, Quality, and Conversion Costs while Engaging and Developing talent in the production facility.

What are we looking for?

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent education
• 3+ years of direct people leadership experience
• 5+ years working in a Continuous Improvement manufacturing environment
• Ability to effectively deploy training strategies and to directly train others.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and email

Physical Requirements

• Can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
• Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
• Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
• Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
• Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
• Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.
