Job summary

Whataburger is seeking a proactive Shift Leader in Houston to drive daily operations and coach team members to deliver exceptional service. You will lead shift management, ensure quality, and uphold safety and sanitation standards while supporting cost and sales goals.

The role emphasizes developing leadership skills, managing busy periods, and providing guidance to Family Members to grow their capabilities within a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma/GED preferred or equivalent experience.
• Open availability including overnights, weekends, holidays, variable hours, and dependable attendance.
• Able to stand up to 10 hours, lift up to 55 lbs., and meet physical demands.
• Experience coaching or leading teams; strong customer service, communication, and multitasking skills.
• ServSafe Food Certification (or ability to obtain and pass during training).

Responsibilities

• Lead shift management to maintain quality, service, and cleanliness standards.
• Coach, train, and motivate Family Members—helping new hires ketchup quickly and seasoned pros turn up the heat.
• Support goals related to food cost, labor cost, sales performance, and basic inventory processes.
• Uphold food safety, workplace safety, sanitation, and compliance requirements.
• Foster teamwork, communication, accountability, and a positive work culture.
• Prepare, lead, and transition shift operations to keep the restaurant running smoothly.
