Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Charge Nurse to provide transformational shift leadership, ensure adherence to standard work, and coordinate high-quality nursing care across the unit to support safety, patient experience, and staff well-being.

The role acts as clinical leader under Nurse Manager, guiding real-time problem-solving, staff mentorship, huddle facilitation, and effective handoffs, while maintaining regulatory compliance and optimal resource use.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Georgia with active license.
• National certification in clinical or leadership specialty within 2 years of hire.
• Associates Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 1 year in direct patient care in an acute care environment and in the specialty.

Responsibilities

• Executes leader standard work each shift to promote reliable operations.
• Leads tiered huddles and uses visual management to identify abnormalities and coordinate countermeasures.
• Facilitates structured escalation of barriers using safety tools, chain of command, and closed loop communication.
• Applies rapid-cycle improvement (PDCA/A3 thinking) to address recurring barriers and supports sustained improvement with measurable results.
• Captures and trends unit-level issues and outcomes to support unit councils/shared governance and continuous improvement.
• Coaches staff to reinforce a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and meaningful recognition.
• Coordinates daily staffing assignments based on patient acuity, unit census, and staff competencies.
• Monitors and maintains patient flow, admissions, discharges, and transfers to optimize throughput and efficiency.
• Completes a structured end of shift handoff to ensure continuity of care and unit stability.
