Description
Position Summary: Shift Leaders provide direct supervision and ensure all crew members work efficiently and effectively during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.
Primary Responsibilities
The following duties represent the majority of the role but are not exhaustive:
- Adhere to restaurant performance standards, ensuring crew members are actively working at their stations, managing workflow, and reassigning tasks as needed.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly, determine if customer credit is necessary, and document decisions appropriately.
- Meet guest needs by ensuring timely food prep, accurate delivery times, proper order verification, and courteous guest interactions.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including glove use, cleanliness, proper food storage, and sanitation of surfaces.
- Ensure crew compliance with uniform and safety guidelines, including footwear and hair restraints.
- Perform shift-related tasks such as cash handling, deposits, end-of-shift activities, and documenting unusual events.
- Ensure safety and security of crew, guests, products, and cash, including locking doors, setting alarms, and restricting after-hours access.
- Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, inventory, and report preparation.
- Assist in training and developing crew members.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and guest relations skills.
- Proven leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of operational procedures, health and safety regulations, and workplace technology.
- Basic math skills and ability to manage and correct crew performance.
Experience/Education & Certification
- Must pass the Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test before managing a shift.
- May require Food Handler’s permit, Foodservice Sanitation Certification, or other licenses per local laws.
- Preferred valid driver’s license with appropriate insurance and a clean driving record.
Physical Demands
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and perform tasks from standing, walking, and occasional lifting or reaching.
Working Conditions
- Primarily indoor environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and water; involves frequent hand washing and operating kitchen equipment.
Tools & Equipment
- Includes adding machine, calculator, cash register, computer terminals, ovens, and other kitchen tools.
