Position Summary
Shift Leaders provide direct supervision and ensure all crew members work efficiently and effectively during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.
Primary Responsibilities
The following duties are representative but not exhaustive:
- Adhere to restaurant performance standards, ensure crew members are actively working, regulate workflow, reassign crew as needed, and support labor goals.
- Resolve guest concerns, determine when customer credit is necessary, and document decisions for audits.
- Meet guest needs by ensuring sufficient food preparation, accurate delivery times, timely table cleaning, and welcoming and thanking guests.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including proper glove use, cleanliness, food storage, and floor safety.
- Verify crew compliance with uniform and safety guidelines.
- Perform shift tasks such as cash handling, deposits, and end-of-shift activities, documenting anomalies as needed.
- Ensure safety and security of all during the shift, including locking doors, setting alarms, and securing cash.
- Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, inventory input, and reporting.
- Assist in training and developing crew members.

Experience/Education & Certification
- Must pass Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test before managing a shift.
- May require Food Handler’s permit, Sanitation Certification, or other licenses based on local laws.
- Preferred valid driver’s license with insurance, meeting Mazzio’s standards.
Physical Demands
- Exertion up to 50 pounds, frequent standing, walking, and stamina for long shifts.
- Reaching, climbing, stooping, handling, and sensory requirements such as taste.
Working Conditions
- Primarily indoor environment, with exposure to heat, humidity, and kitchen equipment.
- Use of various tools and equipment including cash registers, ovens, and safety devices.
