Description
Position Summary: Shift Leaders provide direct supervision to ensure all crew members work efficiently during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.
Primary Responsibilities
The following duties represent the majority of the role but are not exhaustive:
- Adhere to restaurant standards, ensuring crew members actively work at their stations, managing workflow, and reassigning tasks as needed.
- Resolve guest concerns promptly, using good judgment to determine if customer credit is necessary, and document decisions appropriately.
- Meet guest needs by ensuring adequate preparation, accurate delivery times, timely table service, and courteous guest interactions.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including proper glove use, cleanliness, food storage, and surface disinfection.
- Ensure crew members follow uniform and safety guidelines, including footwear and hair restraints.
- Perform shift tasks such as cash handling, deposits, end-of-shift activities, and documenting unusual events.
- Ensure safety and security of staff, guests, products, and cash, including locking doors, setting alarms, and securing valuables.
- Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, inventory assistance, and payroll documentation.
- Assist in training and developing crew members.

- Strong guest relations skills and tact.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- In-depth knowledge of operational procedures.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Comfort with workplace technology and POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to manage and correct crew performance.
Experience/Education & Certification:
- Must pass the Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test to run a shift as manager on duty.
- May require a Food Handler’s permit, Foodservice Sanitation Certification, or other permits/licenses depending on local laws.
- Preferred valid driver’s license with insurance; must meet driving record standards.
Physical Demands
- Ability to exert force up to 50 pounds occasionally, and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, and stamina for extended shifts.
Working Conditions
- Primarily indoor environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and water. Frequent hand washing and operation of kitchen equipment are required.
Tools and Equipment
- Includes cash registers, computers, ovens, and various kitchen tools.
