Description

Position Summary: Shift Leaders provide direct supervision to ensure all crew members work efficiently during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.

Primary Responsibilities

The following duties represent the majority of the role but are not exhaustive:

  1. Adhere to restaurant standards, ensuring crew members actively work at their stations, managing workflow, and reassigning tasks as needed.
  2. Resolve guest concerns promptly, using good judgment to determine if customer credit is necessary, and document decisions appropriately.
  3. Meet guest needs by ensuring adequate preparation, accurate delivery times, timely table service, and courteous guest interactions.
  4. Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including proper glove use, cleanliness, food storage, and surface disinfection.
  5. Ensure crew members follow uniform and safety guidelines, including footwear and hair restraints.
  6. Perform shift tasks such as cash handling, deposits, end-of-shift activities, and documenting unusual events.
  7. Ensure safety and security of staff, guests, products, and cash, including locking doors, setting alarms, and securing valuables.
  8. Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, inventory assistance, and payroll documentation.
  9. Assist in training and developing crew members.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong guest relations skills and tact.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of operational procedures.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Comfort with workplace technology and POS systems.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to manage and correct crew performance.

Experience/Education & Certification:

  • Must pass the Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test to run a shift as manager on duty.
  • May require a Food Handler’s permit, Foodservice Sanitation Certification, or other permits/licenses depending on local laws.
  • Preferred valid driver’s license with insurance; must meet driving record standards.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to exert force up to 50 pounds occasionally, and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, and stamina for extended shifts.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily indoor environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and water. Frequent hand washing and operation of kitchen equipment are required.
Tools and Equipment
  • Includes cash registers, computers, ovens, and various kitchen tools.
