The Shift Lead Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) provides leadership and support to ensure high‑quality veterinary care at Banfield. This full‑time position is located at 14137 Rivergate Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 2827, with a pay range of $23.43–$33.84 per hour and a possible sign‑on bonus.
Responsibilities
- Recruit new clients and promote hospital services, wellness plans, and preventive care.
- Manage client and pet flow to maximize productivity and ensure superior client care.
- Provide professional, exceptional service: welcoming clients and pets, explaining procedures, preparing patients, and monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets.
- Assist with veterinary technician appointments under veterinarian supervision.
- Complete required documentation, manage pet information, and perform facility cleanliness and safety duties.
- Assist with sales of prescriptions, retail, and scheduling of future appointments.
- Maintain financial accuracy: opening/closing procedures and balance management.
- Provide support to the veterinarian and other associates to maintain care flow.
- Obtain client information, maintain complete medical charts, and ensure safe restraining techniques.
- Assist with surgery, training, and mentoring of new paraprofessionals.
- Quality‑check medical records, home medications, regulatory documents, and cleaning.
- Perform administrative functions as needed and use technical skills within state practice acts.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Assist the Practice Manager in building a productive team and developing hospital efficiency.
- Support labor management and staff scheduling.
- Help recruit, train, and supervise paraprofessional staff.
- Communicate between associates, clients, leadership, and central support.
- Ensure adherence to dress, grooming, and safety guidelines.
- Prepare the team on daily cases, assist with transfers, and triage the treatment board.
- Identify bottlenecks and propose solutions to improve medical operations.
- Participate in financial management and equipment maintenance.
- Advise on client resolution, invoice adjustments, and exception handling.
Requirements
- Valid veterinary technician certification or licensure: CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT (state dependent).
- Proven communication and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a clean, safe environment.
