Job summary

Jacksons Food Stores in Tigard, OR is hiring a Shift Lead / Head Cashier to oversee daily operations on assigned shifts. You will lead by example, mentor team members, and deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining store standards.

• Prior supervisory experience in retail or foodservice is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and assist with inquiries during shifts.
• Perform cashier duties: ring up sales, apply promotions, ensure accuracy.
• Provide fast, friendly service and promote store products and services.
• Maintain store cleanliness across sales floor, coolers, pumps, and foodservice areas.
• Stock, rotate, and label shelves and displays; manage food service programs.
• Assist with scheduling changes and communicate updates to the Store Manager.
• Coach and motivate team members in partnership with store leadership.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Greet every customer with a smile, thank them for their business, and invite them back.
• Perform cashier duties, including ringing up sales, applying promotions, and ensuring accuracy..
• Provide fast, friendly service and promote store products and services.
• Maintain store cleanliness, including sales floor, coolers, pumps, and foodservice areas.
• Stock, rotate, and label shelves, coolers, and displays.
• Manage food service and beverage programs to maximize sales and compliance.
• Check in vendors and communicate as needed.
• Lead completion of key store tasks and support special projects.
• Assist with schedule adjustments and communicate changes to the Store Manager.
• Partner with Store and Assistant Managers to coach and motivate team members.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (alcohol, tobacco, Lotto, etc.).
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications

• Our stores require flexible availability for a 24/7 operation (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
• Prior supervisory experience in foodservice or retail strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and twist; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk and listen.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
• Work safely in work conditions that include heat, cold, allergen, noise, and fume/chemical/odor from gasoline and cleaning chemicals.
