Job summary

Laborup in Nashville is seeking a Shift Lead - Fabricator / Welder for our custom metal fabrication shop serving commercial and industrial projects across the Nashville region. You will read blueprints, lay out parts, fit complex weldments, and perform MIG welding while guiding the 2nd shift to steady, on-time output.

You’ll set tempo, maintain quality, catch issues early, and drive accountability across the shift.

Qualifications

• Three or more years fabrication experience.
• Strong MIG welding experience.
• Read fabrication blueprints and weld symbols.
• Experience laying out and fitting weldments.
• Forklift or overhead crane experience.
• Welding certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Shift Leadership: Help provide a steady leadership presence on 2nd shift, keeping work organized and helping drive tempo, accountability, quality, and output.
• Production Coordination: Help keep priorities clear, identify bottlenecks or fabrication issues early, and keep projects moving through the shop.
• Layout: Lay out parts accurately from fabrication blueprints.
• Fitting: Fit and tack assemblies before final welding.
• MIG Welding: Weld tubing, plate, and structural assemblies.
• Inspection: Verify dimensions using measuring tools before final completion.
• Rework: Identify defects early and correct fabrication issues.
• Grinding: Blend welds to meet finished quality requirements.
• Rigging: Safely move materials using cranes and forklifts.
• Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on welding equipment.

We’re hiring a Shift Lead - Fabricator / Welder for our custom metal fabrication shop serving commercial and industrial projects throughout the Nashville region.

This is a fabricator-first leadership role where you’ll read blueprints, lay out parts, fit complex weldments, and perform MIG welding on custom builds while helping lead the 2nd shift. We’re looking for someone who brings strong fabrication and blueprint experience to the floor and can serve as a steady, dependable presence for the team.

You’ll help set the pace within your production pod, maintain quality standards, catch issues before they become problems, and keep projects moving from layout through final fabrication. Along with producing quality work yourself, you’ll help drive tempo, accountability, and output across the shift by keeping priorities clear and helping the team stay productive and on track.

We’re looking for experienced fabricators who enjoy blueprint-driven custom work and take pride in building quality products from the ground up.

Compensation

• $30–32 / hr starting
• Unlimited optional overtime available

Hiring on 2nd Shift

• Monday–Thursday | 5:00 PM – 4:30 AM
• Overtime available on Friday and Saturday
