Job summary

Military Deli & Bakery Services, Inc. seeks an Assistant Manager/Shift Lead to lead the Deli/Bakery team at one of our 103 US Military Commissary locations in Utah. You will supervise 5–10 staff, ensure top customer service, and uphold safety and sanitation standards within a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 2+ years in grocery or food service and prior shift lead experience. You’ll support scheduling, training, inventory, and liaise with commissary management to drive profitability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years grocery or 2+ years food service experience.
• Previous shift lead/management experience mandatory.
• Ability to stand/walk for an entire shift.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Open availability, including weekends and closing shifts.
• Must have a valid Food Safety Management Certification or be able to obtain one within 30 days from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist Deli/Bakery Manager in providing leadership by directing and managing 5–10 employees.
• Maintain high levels of customer service while meeting commissary requirements and maximizing profits.
• Oversee and enforce Food Safety and Sanitation policies and procedures.
• Help manage inventories by tracking weekly reports and ordering raw materials and supplies.
• Assist in scheduling and training employees and delegating work assignments.
• Prepare, maintain, and track records concerning inventories and work processes to calculate monthly profit per policy.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment to ensure health and safety requirements are met.
• Develop and maintain professional communication with commissary management to meet financial objectives.
• Monitor customer satisfaction and identify areas for improvement; develop processes to address issues.
• Maintain accurate department records and documentation of activities.
• Monitor employee morale and promote a positive teamwork environment.
