Job summary

Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe Keller is hiring a Restaurant Shift Lead to help open our brand-new store. You’ll lead the team during shifts, train associates, and ensure fast, friendly service from day one.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in restaurant roles and a proven ability to manage duties with calm, clear communication. Our opening team will shape the culture and delivery standards for years to come.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of restaurant or supervisory experience.
• Experience as Shift Lead or similar role.
• Ability to learn and operate a POS system.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team during shifts and ensure smooth daily operations.

We’re building the opening team for Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe in Keller, and we’re looking for an energetic Shift Lead who is ready to take on additional responsibility and help create something great from day one.

As a Shift Lead, you’ll be an important part of our restaurant leadership team. You’ll be trained to perform all Team Member responsibilities while also helping direct the daily operations of the restaurant. When the General Manager and Assistant Managers are not present, you’ll take the lead in keeping the restaurant running smoothly, supporting your team, and delivering an excellent guest experience.

This is a great opportunity for someone with restaurant experience who is ready to grow toward an Assistant Manager role.

What You’ll Do

• Learn and confidently perform all Team Member responsibilities, including order taking, cashier, drinks, sandwich making, oven operation, dining room, and frontline coordination
• Lead the team during assigned shifts and help keep daily operations running smoothly
• Maintain fast, accurate service and ensure an excellent guest experience
• Ensure food is prepared and presented consistently according to Pickleman’s standards
• Direct the team in the absence of the General Manager and Assistant Managers
• Help train, coach, and motivate Team Members
• Manage employee breaks, shift changes, and daily assignments
• Assist with opening and closing the restaurant
• Ensure food preparation and stocking are completed for each shift
• Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, food safety, and restaurant appearance
• Accurately operate the POS system and maintain proper control of restaurant assets
• Complete required shift paperwork and reports
• Assist with cash handling and deposits
• Work as a team player and jump in wherever needed to keep the restaurant running efficiently
• Handle guest and Team Member concerns professionally and calmly
• Complete other duties as assigned by the management team

Who We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

• Have 1–2 years of restaurant or supervisory experience preferred
• Have experience as a Shift Lead, Team Lead, Kitchen Lead, or similar role
• Are comfortable performing all Team Member responsibilities
• Enjoy working alongside your team and leading by example
• Stay calm, positive, and focused when business gets busy
• Communicate clearly and effectively with both guests and Team Members
• Have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Are dependable, flexible, and willing to adapt to changing situations
• Have basic math and computer skills and are comfortable learning a POS system
• Take pride in great food, a clean restaurant, and excellent customer service
• Want to grow your skills and build a long-term career in restaurant management

A high school diploma is preferred, but we’re more interested in your leadership ability, work ethic, and willingness to learn.

What the Job Requires

This is an active, hands-on restaurant position. You should be comfortable standing for extended periods, working around hot equipment, lifting and moving supplies, and working in a moderately to fast-paced environment with varying noise levels.
