Job summary

Scion Staffing, Inc. is conducting a search for a Shift Leader for a 12‑hour shift in a 24/7 automated laboratory in Northwest Austin, Texas.

This direct‑hire, onsite role oversees hourly operators and coordinates with scientists to ensure safety, quality, and efficient workflows. The ideal candidate has prior shift leadership experience in high‑volume labs or manufacturing, strong people management skills, and comfort with highly automated environments.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading a shift in a high‑volume procedural environment.
• Direct people-management experience supervising hourly employees.
• Experience managing staffing, task assignments, shift transitions, safety, and daily priorities.
• Comfort working in a highly automated, data-driven environment with procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead an assigned day or night shift, ensuring reliable operational coverage and consistent execution.
• Supervise and support hourly employees performing standardized, procedure‑driven tasks.
• Manage staffing, task assignments, attendance, shift handoffs, and day‑to‑day team accountability.
• Monitor throughput, turnaround time, productivity, quality, safety, and SOP adherence.
• Coordinate with on‑shift scientists to address equipment, workflow, and data‑quality concerns and escalate when necessary.
• Foster a culture of safety, ownership, accountability, clear communication, and continuous improvement.
