Buff City Soap in Southlake, TX seeks a Retail Shift Lead to guide a team on busy shifts, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and meet daily sales goals. This full-time on-site role partners with the General Manager to keep store operations running smoothly.

You will open and close the store, balance cash drawers, supervise tasks, and coach teammates. The position requires strong communication, reliability, and comfort in a fast-paced, sales-driven environment.

Retail Shift Lead (Full-Time)Buff City Soap

is on a mission to create fresh, handmade products that are free of harsh ingredients and full of nourishing plant-based goodness. Unlike traditional retailers, we don't just sell our products—we make them right in our Makery every day.

We're looking for a motivated, results-driven Shift Lead who can confidently lead a team, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and drive sales. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires someone who can take charge, coach team members, maintain operational standards, and ensure daily goals are met. You'll work closely alongside your General Manager, who is on-site for the majority of the schedule - solo shift coverage without a GM present is typically limited to about two shifts per week, so this is a great next step for someone building their leadership experience.

What You'll Do

Lead the Team

• Serve as the leader on duty during assigned shifts, including up to two shifts per week when a General Manager is not on-site.
• Open and close the store, including balancing and closing cash drawers.
• Delegate tasks and ensure all daily responsibilities are completed (on days the General Manager in not on-site).
• Lead by example in attitude, work ethic, guest service, and sales performance.

Drive Sales & Guest Experience

• Create an exceptional, guest-focused shopping experience.
• Greet and engage every guest upon arrival.
• Make relevant product recommendations based on guest needs.
• Confidently ask for the sale and help the team meet and exceed sales goals.
• Handle guest concerns professionally and effectively.

Operations & Production

• Assist with daily production of handmade products while maintaining a high level of quality.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, balancing production responsibilities while assisting guests and supporting team members.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels of raw materials, supplies, and finished products.
• Ensure all final products meet company quality standards.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and cleanliness requirements.
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness throughout both the retail and production areas of the Makery.
• Support inventory management, reporting, and daily operational tasks.

What We're Looking For

• Previous leadership, keyholder, team lead, training, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong communication and guest service skills.
• Ability to lead a team independently and make sound decisions during the shifts you run solo.
• Comfortable working in a sales-driven environment and achieving goals.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn company systems.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Responsible, dependable, and trustworthy with cash handling responsibilities.
• Ability to work cohesively with a team in an upbeat, fast-paced environment while following company policies and procedures.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements

This is an active role that involves both retail and production responsibilities.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Comfortable working around various scents and fragrances.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to assist with cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and general Makery maintenance.
