Job summary

Buff City Soap is seeking a proactive Retail Shift Lead (Full-Time) in a fast-paced Makery and retail setting. The role focuses on leading the team during shifts, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and driving sales while maintaining daily operations and product quality.

The ideal candidate will coach team members, manage cash handling, and ensure adherence to standards and procedures, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a leader on duty during assigned shifts.

Retail Shift Lead (Full-Time)

Buff City Soap is on a mission to create fresh, handmade products that are free of harsh ingredients and full of nourishing plant-based goodness. Unlike traditional retailers, we don't just sell our products—we make them right in our Makery every day.

We're looking for a motivated, results-driven Shift Lead who can confidently lead a team, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and drive sales. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires someone who can take charge, coach team members, maintain operational standards, and ensure daily goals are met.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Team

• Serve as a leader on duty during assigned shifts.
• Open and close the store, including balancing and closing cash drawers.

• Ensure all final products meet company quality standards.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and cleanliness requirements.
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness throughout both the retail and production areas of the Makery.
• Support inventory management, reporting, and daily operational tasks.

What We’re Looking For

Physical Requirements

• This is an active role that involves both retail and production responsibilities.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Comfortable working around various scents and fragrances.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to assist with cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and general Makery maintenance.
