Job summary

Playa Bowls is seeking a Shift Lead in New Jersey to support a team delivering high quality acai bowls and beverages. You will supervise daily operations, guide junior staff, and ensure outstanding customer service while maintaining inventory and safety standards.

The role requires 18+ with prior managerial experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage 2–6 teammates on shift, including weekends and late hours. Flexible hours and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Previous managerial experience.
• Strong communication and active listening skills.
• Ability to lead a shift with 2–6 team members.
• Must have a working smartphone.
• Available to work 20+ hours per week, including weekends.
• Weekend and midnight shifts are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Consistently check products to ensure quality and consistency.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding food quality and service.
• Receive deliveries and verify product quality and quantity.
• Monitor food prep, portions, garnishing, and presentation to standards.
• Review procedures to identify improvements in service, performance, or safety.
• Maintain food and equipment inventories and records.
• Train new employees and evaluate performance.
• Handle cash register counts and daily closing procedures.

Job description

Shift Leads are at the forefront in supporting their teams in providing positive customer service. The general job entails: prepping fruit, making frozen fruit bases; smoothies; juices; smoothie bowls, take customer orders, cleaning work stations, and executing effective customer service. The leadership responsibilities include: training new staff, handlind customer complaints, recording inventory, and maintaining communication with Management with any questions or updates while on shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Consistently checking products to ensure consistency and quality
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding food quality, service, and accommodations
• Receive food and beverage deliveries, checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity
• Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and garnishing and presentation of food to ensure company standards
• Review work procedures and operational problems to determine ways to improve service, performance, or safety
• Maintain food and equipment inventories
• Train new employees and evaluate employee performances
• Cash register counts
• Adhere to opening and closing procedures and maintain accompanying records

REQUIREMENTS

• Must at least be over the age of 18
• Previous managerial experience

• Ability to lead a shift with anywhere between 2-6 team members
• Must have working Smart Phone
• Ability to work at least 20+ hours weekly
